 広島原子爆弾の炸裂によって被爆した多数の子供たちを、救護隊員がトラックの荷台に乗せて救護所に送迎した。子供たちは、顔面から全身の各所を火傷して、応急な簡素な綿布で手当をされた。子供たちは、痛みや苦しさで苦悶しながらも寝たきりで耐えていた。救護隊員は被爆した子供たちを安全な広島市郊外の救護所に急送した。

長崎原子爆弾の炸裂にて重度に被爆した女性が、大村海軍病院に護送された。長崎原子爆弾の放射能の大量被爆により、 熱傷や外傷等は少なくても、全身における出血傾向により出血斑が広範囲に多数出現して重篤になり死亡した。爆心地から近距離になるほど、 早期に出血傾向を起こし、急性期に重篤になり被爆死した。病院に収容されるも数日後に、原爆症により病院内で死亡した。
